Sacred Sound, Chakra and Aura

Sacred Sound, Chakra and Aura

Sacred sounds can cause changes to take place in the chakras of the body, which are described by Hindu text dating over three thousand years as being vortices of energy. Chakra is a Sanskrit word translated to mean “wheel” and Sanskrit is an ancient language that is seen as the seed of other sacred languages such as Hebrew and Tibetan. There are thought to be seven major chakras located between the base of the spine and the crown of the head including the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, brow and crown. The chakras are receptors, mediators and distributors of pranic energy, which interconnect with the physical and subtle bodies. Each chakra has an innate connection to small nerve bundles called ‘ganglia’. The ganglia are like mini brains, which store and remember information relating to emotional events such as shock and trauma as well as our responses to events, which take place throughout our lifetimes. It is thought that each of the seven chakras stores unique and individual types of emotional memories, which could explain firstly why we remember emotional events and associated responses not only with our brains but also within various parts of the body. Secondly this could explain why certain types of emotional responses occur uniquely in specific parts of the body preferentially over another. Therefore the chakras are understood to be vortices of energy which interact and interpenetrate each level of our being and which process both emotional and spiritual energies.

The “Aura” is believed to be a reflection of the subtle bodies and is usually perceived by clairvoyants as either a single energy field or multiple layered energy fields surrounding the physical body, which is invisible to most humans. The subtle bodies are made of what is best described as different layers of energy, which interpenetrate one another and in combination are often interpreted as the whole aura. The subtle bodies include the etheric, astral (which contains the mental and emotional bodies) and Buddhic (often called the causal, higher self or soul). These subtle bodies or layers interpenetrate one another and are linked to the physical body. It is said that disease manifests within the subtle bodies first of all and moves through the different layers of the subtle bodies before entering the physical body manifesting as illness or disease.

Through the pure vibrations of sacred sound the blocked and or stagnant energy can be released (via the various principles of sacred sound) within the subtle bodies and therefore the chakras, meridians and physical body.

The etheric body is closest to the physical body and has the closest relationship to our physical body. It is usually seen as a white light around the outline of the body by those first developing clairvoyant sight. The etheric layer contains within it the invisible life force energy sometimes called prana or chi, which flows through to the physical body via the meridians identified by the ancient Chinese system of acupuncture. The etheric body provides to the physical body subtle energy templates that aids in the growth, development, and repair of the physical body. It is the distortion of the etheric body, which can lead to cellular distortion in the physical body. It is also responsible for decay of the physical after death and this relationship can be seen simply demonstrated by placing a pyramid structure over a piece of fruit to reduce the rate of decay because pyramid structures have a unique interaction between the physical and etheric bodies causing the decay process to be slowed down.

The astral body containing the mental and emotional bodies is often perceived clairvoyantly as multi-coloured layers. These colours represent the mental and emotional states of the individual. Many books have been written to try and understand and interpret these colours but no overall conclusions can be made and therefore these interpretations should be seen only as a general guideline not as a definitive rule.

An example of an astral body stimulant is coffee, which increases astrality within the physical body causing higher states of awareness. Some schools of thought see the mental and emotional bodies as being separate subtle bodies within their own right. It is very difficult to imagine having a mental stimulant without an emotional response attached to it and vice versa. Therefore this teaching medium includes the mental and emotional bodies as operating through the astral body. The Buddhic body or higher self contains the part of us that is closest to the Divine and contains all samkaras (latent tendencies and karma). These subtle impressions control the formation and growth of each of the other subtle bodies and can be seen as holding the physical blueprint for this incarnation. After death the astral and Buddhic bodies separate from the physical and etheric bodies. This can be demonstrated daily during sleep where the astral and buddhic bodies separate temporarily but without causing the permanent separation that occurs at death.
